I have a raging head cold, feel like crap or as I described to my boss when I called in sick today, "I feel like I have been shot out of a snot cannon." I am cranky, not sleeping well because I am having wacko dreams about the cable show "The Deadliest Catch" and I can't breathe. In the midst of my complaining I am going to write down 20 things I can be thankful for and repeat this process at least once a week until it sinks in down deep to my soul....or my head unclogs.
20 things to be thankful for right now...
1) I am alive
2) I have all my limbs and can walk upright
3) I have people who love me
4) My imagination
5) My squirrel friends in the backyard
6) My determination
7) Constant Comment tea with honey
8) I can't smell anything bad right now -- one of my pet peeves is bad smells
9) Hot showers with steam
10) Dr. Hauschka Lavender body oil
11) Martha Beck's new body "Steering by Starlight"
12) Eckhart Tolle's book "The New Earth"
13) Black and white photography
14) The creative genius of Vincent D'Onofrio
15) The kick-ass guitar riffs and weird lyrics of Frank Black and the Pixies
16) Starbuck and Apollo finally getting busy on Battlestar Galatica (I am behind on the episodes -- please don't spoil it for me...)
17) Men with sexy deep voices
18) Yoga class twice a week at work
19) Finding karate at 40 and loving it
20) The beach at night
Actually not hard at all to write that list. So I love this exercise. It didn't make the cold better but it made me less cranky. I will try it again and I know I could add even more to the list next time. So thanks!
